Talkin App as an Effective English Learning Media to Enhance Participants' Speaking Ability at the Malaysian International Community Service

The purpose of the International Community Service program is to actively contribute to international activities such as English language learning using Talkin App. The application was used to improve students' speaking skills during the International Community Service Program in Malaysia. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, this project engaged Malaysian international community as active participants in identifying problems, designing solutions, and evaluating outcomes collaboratively, focusing on English language development. Data were collected through observations, interviews, reflective journals, and performance assessments. The research findings showed that Talkin App effectively improved participants’ fluency, pronunciation, and confidence in speaking English. The integration of technology with participatory learning strategies not only improved communicative competence but also fostered cross-cultural understanding among participants and the local community. In conclusion, Talkin App proved to be an effective and engaging medium for developing speaking skills in an international context, demonstrating the potential of participatory and technology-assisted approaches in global education initiatives.
