Promoting Healthy Sleep Patterns Through School-Based Storytelling and Relaxation Programs for Primary School Students

Many primary school students experience irregular sleep duration and poor pre-sleep habits, which negatively affect their attention, mood, and learning readiness. This community service program aimed to promote healthy sleep patterns among Grade 5 students at SD Inpres Baru Palu, Central Sulawesi, through a school-based storytelling and relaxation session. The activity employed a participatory approach consisting of a 90-minute session that integrated interactive education, a tailored bedtime story, and guided relaxation technique, delivered to 27 Grade 5 students on November 14, 2025. The results showed that students were able to articulate the recommended sleep duration, identify healthy sleep habits, and follow the relaxation steps with high engagement. Teachers reported increased student awareness and intention to implement consistent bedtime routines. This program effectively enhanced sleep hygiene knowledge and positively impacted students' behavioral readiness to adopt healthier sleep routines, with potential to improve academic performance and long-term well-being.
