Implementation of the independent curriculum at State Junior High School 48 Samarinda, Indonesia: A project for strengthening Pancasila student profiles

This study aims to thoroughly evaluate the implementation of the Independent Curriculum at State Junior High School 48 Samarinda. The primary objective is to examine the alignment of the curriculum's application with the policies and guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Additionally, this study seeks to identify and analyze the challenges and barriers faced by teachers, school administrators, and students during the curriculum implementation process. The research employs a qualitative methodology, specifically utilizing a case study approach. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, including teachers, principals, curriculum coordinators, and students. The findings reveal that, despite earnest efforts to implement the Independent Curriculum, several significant obstacles persist. These include limited access to adequate facilities, insufficient training and professional development opportunities for teachers, and the suboptimal integration of technology within the educational environment. Moreover, the study highlights the complexities of adapting to the curriculum's demands amidst existing infrastructural and resource limitations. These findings are intended to provide valuable insights and recommendations for policymakers, educational authorities, and school administrators, with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of the Independent Curriculum implementation in schools across the region. The study underscores the need for targeted interventions and support mechanisms to overcome the identified challenges and ensure that the goals of the Independent Curriculum are fully realized in practice.
