Disaster preparedness is a critical component of education, particularly in regions prone to natural calamities such as tsunamis. This review explores the integration of disaster preparedness into the elementary school curriculum in tsunami-prone areas, aiming to evaluate existing strategies, identify best practices, and propose actionable recommendations for enhancing disaster education at the elementary level. By analyzing various educational frameworks and case studies, this review highlights the crucial role of early education in equipping young students with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond effectively to tsunami threats. The findings reveal that incorporating disaster preparedness into the curriculum significantly enhances students' safety and resilience while promoting a culture of awareness and preparedness within the broader community. Effective integration involves a multi-faceted approach, combining theoretical knowledge with practical drills, interactive learning modules, and active community involvement. This review underscores the importance of tailored educational strategies that address the specific needs of tsunami-prone areas, ensuring students can internalize and apply disaster preparedness principles. The review also discusses challenges and barriers to implementing disaster preparedness education, providing insights for policymakers, educators, and community leaders to develop and implement robust disaster preparedness programs in elementary schools, fostering a generation of informed and prepared individuals.
