This study examined the relationship between educational attainment and the socioeconomic conditions of coastal communities in Bungkutoko Village, Nambo District, Kendari City, Indonesia. The research was conducted from May to June 2016 using a census approach involving all 34 fishermen residing in the village. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. The findings reveal that the village population is predominantly composed of indigenous residents who are generally of productive working age and have relatively small household sizes. The educational attainment of the fishing community remains low, with none of the respondents having completed a bachelor's degree. This limited level of formal education appears to constrain occupational skills and income-generating opportunities. Consequently, the majority of fishermen in Bungkutoko Village earn incomes below the Regional Minimum Wage (RMW) of Kendari City. These findings highlight the importance of improving access to education and capacity-building programs to enhance the socioeconomic well-being of coastal fishing communities.
