Abstract

The Independent Curriculum highlights the significance of implementing active, collaborative, and student-centered learning as a step to improve the quality of education in elementary schools. However, the results of observations show that teachers at Ciomas Public Elementary School face challenges in designing and implementing learning models, especially in developing according to the principles of the Independent Curriculum which is meaningful, flexible, and student-centered. Community service activities aim to improve teacher competence through training on the concepts, techniques, and practices of active, collaborative, and student-centered learning. The implementation method consists of situation analysis, planning, action and evaluation. The results of the activity showed an increase in teachers' understanding of the principles of the Independent Curriculum, as well as a better ability to prepare teaching modules, and innovative learning activities. Teachers seem enthusiastic in practicing the learning model during the mentoring process. This training program has a positive impact on improving teachers' professional competence and supporting the effective implementation of the Independent Curriculum at Ciomas Public Elementary School.
